The Pinqy Project

“The Pinqy Project” is a youth workshop that inspires through the art of Hip Hop. The curriculum aims to motivate students through Ms. Ring’s story/performance, and have students begin to think about writing and sharing their own narratives. The facilitation gears questions and activities towards helping students learn how to work together, how to follow their own dreams, and how to positively use their voices. “The Pinqy Project” touches on several goals of Social Emotional Learning, including:

1. Develop self-awareness and self-management skills to achieve school and life success.

2. Use social-awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships.

3. Demonstrate decision-making skills and responsible behaviors in personal, school, and community contexts.



What Topics Are Covered?


The topics covered include, but are not limited to: Self-confidence, bullying, body image, sexual abuse, street violence, identity, expression through art, teamwork, creative writing, pursuing dreams, feminism, choices and second chances.
